Samsung Galaxy S - Review

The Galaxy S is a slick new Android phone with a massive 4 inch screen. The iPhone lookalike packs a huge punch with its media capabilities. It is said to be one of the best smartphones that run Android. Android phones are hot these days with HTC EVO 4G, Sony Xperia X10 and now the Samsung Galaxy S. There are many other Android phones but the said three are up there as the best of the best.

The advantages of this phone are its super cool Super AMOLED diplay, great online capabilities and ability to play DivX and FLAC, large 4 inch screen and even comes with DLNA streaming. DLNA streaming allows you to connect to DLNA enabled devices such as some TVs and the Sony PS3. This allows you to stream media from the phone to a DLNA enabled device.

One of the selling points of this phone is its awesome display the Super AMOLED is far more superior than the previous AMOLED technology. It allows for a greater viewing angle and the colours and contrast are a lot deeper. It makes images on the screen appear brighter, clearer and richer.

The phone also features an excellent capacitive touch screen. The phone has excellent media capabilities. Supporting both Xvid and DivX video formats the phone is great for watching videos and movies. A 5 megapixel camera is located at the back of the phone, but it sadly misses a flash. The absence of this flash makes it hard to take pictures in low lit areas.

The phone features the new Android 2.1 operating system and will be upgradable to use Android 2.2 OS when that gets released for this phone. The only flaw with this phone is the plastic casing feels cheap and not as sturdy as its competitors. It also looks like an iPhone clone which makes it not as appealing for those that don't want the iPhone look.

There is a bunch of widgets that Samsung has added to its phone and the Android 2.1 OS has been skinned entirely every part of the system. The home screen and menus are all different an look very lively.

In conclusion, for those wanting an Android phone and something that isn't a smart phone, then the Galaxy S is a phone that one should get. The HTC EVO 4G is another great phone that is a direct competitor of this phone. Samsung and HTC are battling it out to be one of the best Android phones ever.
