Top 3 Operating Systems For E-Readers

During 2009, e-readers were operating at maximum efficiency with over 2.2 million devices being shipped to stores. In 2010, the demand for e-readers is expected to increase by more than 50%. Their operating systems create the necessary base for these popular devices. Many first-class eBook Readers run full operating systems and can function like a computer.

Google Android

Sprint Cs

It is not surprising that Google Android tops the list of operating systems for e-readers. The Barnes and Noble 'Nook' was the first e-reader to use Google Android. Since that launch, Google Android has been used in various e-readers and that trend is expected to continue into the future.

Google Android gives users access to 1,000,000 free, public-domain books digitized by Google. All devices using the Android system can tap into Android apps and vice versa. In addition, Google understands that the real power of the open source Android lies with the Operating System Defaults. Google eBooks will serve as the default on every Android device.

The innovative eDGe e-reader, created by Entourage Systems, runs Google Android operating system. The eDGge is a netbook/e-reader combination which offers users the convenience of a Google toolbar on the right screen. Running on Wi-Fi and 3G networks, users can surf the internet, watch videos, or engage in video chat with this device.

Spring Design's 'Alex' will also support Android apps. Yet any applications which require internet access will work only with Wi-Fi. With this dual-display e-reader, the 6.5" e-ink screen for reading sits above a 3.5" color LCD. Users can display images and video, view notes, and even browse the web.

Expected to be released in 2010, the proposed Netronix, a collaboration between Texas Instruments and a Taiwanese networking specialist, is also an Android-based e-reader. Android e-readers allow portability of books (between Android e-readers) as well as access to Android apps.

Linux

The new Skiff reader is a Linux-based system. The Skiff reader is said to be the largest (11.5") and thinnest (0.25") with the highest-resolution (UXGA - 1200 x 1600). The Skiff reader is expected to be on sale later in the year. Interested buyers will be able to find it online and at over 1000 Sprint stores in the US.

Sony Reader runs the MontaVista Linux Professional Edition operating system. Sony ebook Library is not supported on Linux. Yet when this device is connected, it grants access to its flash memory and memory card slots (as if they were USB Mass Storage Devices).

Amazon's Kindle DX runs Linux-2.6.22.19. Operating system updates are received wirelessly and install automatically during a period in sleep mode in which the wireless is in operation. As it was noted in the article "Amazon Offer Kindle for Sale in Europe - Will they Succeed", the device is being offered globally on the 3G network with no charges for the wireless connectivity that is used to download eBooks. With its Wacom touchscreen, Illiad runs Linux 2.4 kernel.

Due to its open Linux operating system, Illiad can run third-party applications created for it. The Hanlin eReader v3, one of the first Open Source e-readers, is built on the Linux operating system. China's Hanvon uses Linux 2.6 and Cool-er, Pocketbook, and Bookeen also run Linux.

Windows

Although Windows is slipping in popularity, it will remain a major player in operating system market for many years into the future. Sony PRS-505/SC Digital eBook Reader, with its company software Sony ebook Library, is similar to iTunes and requires Windows. The software will not work on the 64-bit version of Windows XP but does support Windows Vista and Windows 7. Recent announcements point to the use of Windows 7 in new color 'slate' e-readers such as Archos or HP. The Taiwanese company, MSI, has also created an e-reader/computer combo which runs Windows 7.

E-readers with operational systems, such as the leading Google Android, encourage openness. These innovative devices are 'cracked' to allow users to run Android apps as well as download music and access social networks. Yet Fortify Software, the application vulnerability specialist, has issued a warning to corporations about possible security issues with modified e-readers. When a devise is 'cracked' or repurposed in this manner, there isn't any way to check the security of the operating system 'cracks' or newly installed programs.

For usage outside the corporate world, however, e-readers have few drawbacks. E-reader companies are always trying to improve on features, performance, and design. E-readers have made a tremendous impact on the reading experience - what we read, where we read, and how we read books and newspapers. More and more people are choosing e-readers and their state-of-the art operating systems are helping to drive that demand.

Tablet Vs PC: Which Way Do You Go?

As technology continues to advance on a daily basis, tablets are one device that has truly exploded in recent years. From the iPad to the latest Xoom from Motorola, they have remarkable features that are quite enticing. But the question on many people's mind is which way to go in regards to a tablet vs. PC. When looking at range of use, this refers to the mobility of the tablet you are considering or the laptop in your hands. With a PC, you will find it can hang with virtually all but the higher-end desktops in regards to performance and features, and it can easily be carried virtually anywhere.

As you begin to compare the two, there are two categories that really need to be considered; performance and range of use. Performance and features you want to look at include the GHz of processor speed, pixels of screen area, megabytes of memory, type and number of drives, and characteristics to this nature.

Sprint Cs

With tablets, you will receive the best combination of performance and range of use. On the contrary, there are some features that are missing that may be crucial to your decision.

When looking at tablet vs. PC, some jump straight to the entertainment factor such as a DVD player. There are just three tablets are capable of displaying DVDs anywhere and those are the Acer TravelMate C300 series, the Fujitsu 4000 series and the Averatec C3500. On the contrary, you will find just about all laptops are capable of viewing DVDs.

From there you want to look at resolution and screen quality. Most tablets are going to offer a screen resolution around 1024 x 768, with a few exceptions of course. In addition, they tend to have a shorter battery life than most laptops, and can become quite pricey.

Of course, this depends on what brand you are looking at. There are those laptops that are in the thousands of dollars, which far exceeds that of any tablet. But when you narrow it down to just the features, most features on a laptop are going to cost you less than the same features that can be found on a tablet. As far as range of use goes, tablets come in two forms: slate models and convertible models. A slate model has a flat screen without a keyboard. In order to enter data, you can use a tablet pen or your voice. A convertible model will look more like a laptop with an attached keyword until you fold the model's screen over the keyboard. Both make it extremely practical.

The bottom line is you need to consider what features you really want and how you will be using the device. When looking at a Tablet vs. PC, you will find the tablet offers a greater range of use while a PC will (sometimes) typically have hardware and overall feature advantages. I Love my Old Dell PC, but my
Tablet is really convenient and easy to use and so mobile.

Tablets have undoubtedly hit the market and hit it hard over the past few years. While it was the iPad that really shook things up, there have been a number of devices come out of late that are prime contenders. With that, here is a list of the top five that are more than worth taking a look at.

1. Apple iPad 2
The Apple iPad 2 takes what the original had to offer and beefs it up a bit, but not in size. It is drastically thinner and features front and read cameras, Face Time video chat, a much faster processor, and 3G options for both AT&T and Verizon. On the downside, its screen resolution is still rather poor, the photo quality is mediocre, and there is still no Adobe Flash support. With that said, it is still the top option on the market today.

2. Motorola Xoom
Perhaps the prime contender to Apple is the Motorola Xoom, which is a more powerful and more capable alternative to the iPad. It features a 10.1 inch screen, front and rear cameras, HDMI output and a dual-core processor. The number one concern people should have is the price as it is priced at 0 off-contract or 0 with a two-year commitment from Verizon.

3. Samsung Galaxy Tab
A much more affordable option is offered by Sprint with the Samsung Galaxy Tab for anywhere from 9.99 to 9.99. Compared to other tablets, it is a serious contender thanks to its 7-inch screen, two cameras, Flash compatibility and an overall convenient size. On the downside, it acts more like an over sized phone than a Netbook alternative.

4. Dell Streak 7
Moving right along, next in line comes the Streak 7 from Dell. It offers dual-core processing, 4G network compatibility, Adobe Flash 10.1 support, front and rear cameras, and an inventive re-imaging of Android 2.2. What you need to be wary of is its screen quality and the overall responsiveness.

5. Barnes and Noble Nook Color
Last on the list of tablets that are worth taking a look at is the Nook Color from Barnes and Noble. There is a lot to boast about from this device as the color e-book reader features a vibrant 7-inch touch screen, built-in Wi-Fi, a Nookbook store, 8GB on board memory, built-in Web browser that is sufficient, Word, PDF, and it displays images and some video formats. As for the bad, it only has eight hours of battery life for reading, no access to Android Marketplace, and there are few apps available.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. I hope it helps you make an informed decision.

How To Download Music From Computer To Cell Phone

Downloading music from your PC's music collection is pretty easy. All you have to do is drag and drop songs from your PC onto a memory card that's then installed in the phone. All the phones connect to PC USB cable. However only Sprint / Nextel and Amp'd phones appear as a lettered drive onto which you can drag and drop music files.

Not everything on your PC will necessarily play on the phones. Sprint phones will play MP3's and AAC's ( the default format for Apple's iTunes software and Music Store) but not music purchased form other music stores even PC downloads from the Sprint service, oddly enough. With Amp'd you can play MP3's and WMA's but not songs downloaded from online music stores. AMP'd Live does allow you to order songs, ringtones and other content from your PC and have them automatically pushed to you phone.

Sprint Cs

Verizon is the most "Apple unfriendly". It's phones don't play MP3's or AAC's the only formats used by iPod owners just WMA's. The only good news is that Verizon phones will play copy-protected WMA songs bought from other online stores (which of course rules out Apple iTunes content). I hope this helps you in terms of what cell phone you have now or are contemplating on purchasing. Below is a place that I found to be helpfull in this process. Check it out.

Scrum Teams

In the Scrum method of agile software development, there are three fundamental roles: the Product Owner, the ScrumMaster, and the team. In my last two articles, I discussed the roles of the Product Owner and the ScrumMaster. Finally, I'll discuss the development team and how it functions within an agile paradigm.

For Scrum software development, an ideal team consists of seven members, plus or minus two. Usually, Scrum teams are made of cross-functional members, who include a mix of software engineers, architects, programmers, analysts, QA experts, testers, UI designers, and so on. In Scrum, it is recommended that the team is located in a single room (the team room).

Sprint Cs

Although the Scrum team is responsible for the completion of the work agreed upon in the Sprint Planning Meeting, the team has the ability to limit the amount of work it takes on. Granted, the Product Owner will expect the team to take on as many story points of work as can be realistically completed. (In this case, the Scrum team would point to its established velocity for previous sprints to negotiate how many story points constitute a realistic workload.) This process of negotiation is valuable for two reasons. Firstly, it protects the team from being overwhelmed with an unreasonable sprint backlog. Secondly, it manages the expectations of the Product Owner, who, in turn, can do the same for customers.

Similarly, the team has the autonomy to determine how and when to complete its work. Provided that the team finishes its work on time and within budget, how that work is completed is entirely up to the discretion of the team. In theory, the team could spend the first half of its sprint at the beach, as long as the work meets the corresponding acceptance criteria. Of course, a Scrum team typically needs the entire sprint to complete its work. In fact, it's common for Scrum teams to discover within the first few days of a sprint, when the team begins to wrap its heads around the work to be completed, that they have even more work to do than they originally thought. Moreover, the Scrum method of agile software development does not award partial credit. Even if a project is 99 percent "done," it's still incomplete if it does not meet all the established acceptance criteria. After all, a project's finishing touches are often the most time-consuming and labor-intensive.

Using Scrum to manage agile software development is the leading strategy to help teams reduce risk and associated costs, while increasing the quality of a team's releases. Through an emphasis on communication and collaboration, Scrum brings everyone together--from developers to stakeholders--to build a better product.

How to Set Up the R4 DS Card

R4 DS card possesses unique functions and features. The card is developed for playing with gaming consoles. The card enables you to load as many games, music and movies, which are compatible to your gaming console.

It makes use of MicroSD (MSD) cards for storing and loading games. When you shop for R4 DS card, make sure it comes with the MicroSD card. Considering you own a MicroSD card along with the R4 DS, follow the steps below to set up the R4 DS card.

Sprint Cs

Steps:

1. If the computer you own has no slot for MicroSD card, then make use of a Universal Serial Bus (USB) adapter. A computer usually has the USB port. Here, having a USB 1.1 port will be enough. It may take some time, so that the files are loaded on to the card.

2. Slip this MSD card into USB adapter. Now, insert the adapter into USB port on your computer. Next, in 'My Computer', click 'Removable Disc' for that drive, which corresponds with this USB adapter. You may find it listed as memory card or SD card with any drive letter assigned.

3. Detach the disk, which comes with R4 for loading it onto your computer. Make a copy of disc files there on MicroSD card, to its root. For this, click the MicroSD card icon, copy and then paste all files there. Make sure your data files stay on the MicroSD card's root.

4. Remove MSD card and place it down the bottom of R4.

5. Insert R4 into DS and turn on the DS. It will take you to R4 screen allowing you to decide over what you prefer doing. You may choose from the MEDIA, SLOT 2 or GAME options.

6. Use your R4 DS card for downloading games for the DS. Create files on the computer and then load them onto the DS using R4 or MSD card.

Net Neutrality And The Cellular Networks

While senators in Washington mull over issues of net neutrality as they pertain to the terrestrial cable and telco networks, eBay VoIP provider Skype has asked the FCC to open up the cellular networks to outside applications and devices. While obviously self serving, the petition stirs up the debate on just what kind of role consumer choice should play on the public airwaves.

Specifically, Skype is asking the FCC to apply the Carterphone ruling of 1968 to the cellular communications industry of today. Prior to that decision, AT&T determined what type of device could be hooked up to their network, typically a phone device that was sold exclusively by them.

Sprint Cs

As a result of the Carterphone ruling, the phone company's control of the network stopped at the telephone jack. Consumers could choose from an onslaught of new devices and technologies entering the market. From answering machines, to fax machines, and eventually the modem - a major factor in the Internet boom of the nineties.

Since the FCC began auctioning off the public radio spectrum in the 1990s, the growth of the cell phone industry has mushroomed, changing the very face of telecommunications and the way people communicate worldwide. New technologies flourished, and today, the cellular networks can only carry voice, but are themselves an extension of the Internet.

Developers and device manufacturers have come up with mobile applications such as text messaging, email, full blown internet browsing, music and video down and uploading, mobile office applications, VoIP and more. The new generation of cell phones are now called smart phones, and can do just about anything your computer can do. Handsets are built with multiple radios that can access cellular, WiFi and Bluetooth frequencies, and can seamlessly switch a call from a cellular network to the much cheaper Internet via VoIP over a WiFi connection.

U.S. Cell Phone Denial of Services

While many of these applications and capabilities are available on overseas networks, in the US it's a different story. As cited by Dr. Tim Wu in his paper Wireless Net Neutrality, "...the cellular phones widely available in the United States are just a small fraction of the phones available in the world."

As it stands today in the US, the cellular industry has boiled down to four major carriers based on two different technologies, and they all guard their networks jealously. Verizon and Sprint use the CDMA standard (Code Division Multiple Access), and AT&T (formerly Cingular Wireless) and T-Mobile employ the GSM standard (Global System Mobile), which currently enjoys about 73% world market share.

As with AT&T before Carterphone, all of the carriers sell their own phones, and block access to their networks from the others to varying degrees, using different methods. The CDMA phones use an Electronic Serial Number (ESN) that is registered by the carrier network. Verizon will not allow a phone on their network that is not sold by them. Sprint will allow you to register a non Sprint device, but strongly discourages it and offers no technical support for such phones.

GSM networks use a SIM card, a chip that contains subscriber information and is designed to allow phones to switch networks by inserting the SIM card of the appropriate carrier. Phones sold by AT&T and T-Mobile come with the SIM card disabled, effectively locking them to the network. It is possible, though not easy, to unlock these phones and is also legal to do so in the United States. Not wanting to push the envelope too much, AT&T and T-Mobile allow the unlocking of their phones after an initial period of ownership.

In an attempt to keep users on their networks, and thus revenues up, the cellcos have crippled applications that others enjoy world wide. The very popular activities of downloading music, pictures, and video are indeed available in the US cellular market, but try to email or upload to a location not approved, and you'll likely find your efforts blocked. You can, for an additional fee of course, upload and share your media to web sites approved by the carrier.

Bluetooth wireless technology lets devices communicate with each other over a low band short range radio frequency. Bluetooth enabled printers, computers, mobile phones and wireless headsets, allow users to up and download media, send files and photos to a printer, and talk on your cell phone hands free. Yet US carriers have at some time or another crippled many of the features available through Bluetooth technology.

Probably the most disruptive technology for the cellular industry is WiFi. The 802.11b/g standard allows for a broadband wireless connection suitable for email, web browsing, inter device communication, and the dreaded, extremely cheap, voice over Internet Protocol. Internet telephony can bypass the cellular networks by sending voice directly over the Internet through a landline or a WiFi connection.

Device manufacturers can and do incorporate WiFi technology into their handsets, but the cellular carriers in the US have resisted tooth and nail by crippling WiFi in their devices, and demanding that manufacturers make WiFi-less versions of their phones for the American market. While it is technologically possible to load third party applications such as Skype onto a mobile phone, to do so on a WiFi capable cell phone would threaten the very business model of the cellcos.

Today, you will find very few cell phones in America that are WiFi capable. Just now, cell phones are becoming available in Europe that can operate on the cellular network as well as corporate wireless LANs, integrating into the company IP/PBX telephony system.

In conjunction with AT&T, Apple announced recently that its premier iPhone coming out in June will have WiFi functionality, but to what extent is yet to be seen. Unfortunately for Skype and others, there will be no third party applications allowed on the iPhone.

The major carriers in the US also offer broadband Internet access over their networks, mainly through an antenna placed on a PC card plugged into a laptop. Cellular broadband access is in direct competition with the WiFi hotspots popping up in airports, hotels, corporate LANS, and other public facilities. The developing 802.16 WiMax technology also threatens to add the Metropolitan LAN into the competitive mix.

While WiFi is considerably faster than the cellular networks, it is mainly designed for short range networks and hot spots must be searched out. The cellular networks, on the other hand, can offer broadband access wherever their network reaches.

The U.S. carriers restrict what type of services, applications, and features are allowed on their network, and will terminate and charge users suspected of violating their contractual agreement. Basically, broadband services allow only email, browsing, and corporate intranet access. Downloading of music and video from unauthorized sites (iTunes and YouTube for example) and P2P file sharing is prohibited, and enforced in some cases by placing strict band width limitations on users.

How the Net Neutrality Movement Pertains to the Cellular Industry

If the early development of the Internet can be compared to the American Wild West, then the rise of the U.S. cellular industry can be likened to Stalin's Soviet Union. Carrier networks rule developers, device manufactures, and consumers with an iron fist, allowing only the services and features of their choice on their networks.

To be sure, there are some major differences between the Internet and cellular networks. U.S. carriers have spent billions for their share of the wireless spectrum, and maintain the right to determine what features are available to the consumer. Corporate executives contend that there is fierce competition in the cellular industry that should be the determining factor in consumer choice, as opposed to governmental regulation.

Whereas the early days of the Internet witnessed massive technological innovation from developers and manufacturers due to its inherent openness, American cellular networks were from the beginning proprietary and self serving.

The Net Neutrality concept sprung from a grass roots movement when cable and telco executives started talking about charging high bandwidth users such as Google, Vonage, and YouTube, for using their pipes. The fear that these companies could thus control what content would be available to consumers threatened the very foundation of a free and open Internet.

The cellular phone companies on the other hand, were from their inception businesses operating in a free enterprise society, and as such, have every right to dictate what services to offer. Absent any public outcry from consumers for the right to choose, regulation of the industry would seem to be anything but a foregone conclusion.

That said, the implementation of the Carterphone principals would seem to be a logical step to prevent monopoly like tactics from an industry that is entrusted with the public airwaves. The other players in the telecommunication industry, including the cable companies, must and do abide by the ruling.

What is puzzling is that cellular companies could actually open up more revenue streams by offering services that consumers would gladly pay extra for. Downloading music and video from iTunes for example could be charged by bandwidth usage, and cellcos could implement calling plans that would include minutes used to make calls over the Internet.

Of particular interest to the business community is the concept of Fixed Mobile Convergence, having one phone with one phone number that can traverse cellular and WiFi networks, allowing calls to be made through VoIP and traditional landlines, in addition to the cellular air waves.

Device manufacturers like Nokia already make handsets that integrate with corporate IP/PBX systems from Cisco, Avaya, Siemens and others, and will route calls over the best network available. While much progress in this technology is being made in Europe and other regions, the American market remains stifling for developers and manufacturers both.

It will be interesting to see how the Skype petition plays out with the FCC. Applying the Carterphone ruling could conceivably open up the floodgates for new development and technological innovation. If not, the U.S. cell phone industry will have to depend on sluggish market forces to catch up with the rest of the world.

RegCure Reviews - Honest Opinion About RegCure Registry Cleaner Program

If you're using a PC that runs a Windows operating system, most likely you've heard about the Windows Registry. It's the most important component of Windows. It's the nerve and soul of Windows operating system, it registers and manages all the hardware and software information installed in your system.

Needless to say that you need to protect and maintain the Registry so that your Windows system can always be at an optimal performance. However, maintaining Windows Registry is not for average PC users, because it contains sensitive data. A single mistake can render the entire system unusable and requires re-installation. Certainly not a fun thing to do.

Sprint Cs

Fortunately, there are many so called automated Windows Registry programs available. As the name suggests, these programs provide automated problems troubleshooting, errors fixing and performance management of your Windows Registry system automatically without needing your intervention.

In this article, I will share with you the Windows Registry cleaner program that I've been using for years. It's called RegCure. You will find honest RegCure reviews and opinions. Note that RegCure is 100% compatible with Windows Vista. My PC and laptop used to run Windows XP but had been upgraded to Windows Vista since and RegCure works flawlessly.

The first impression I got from RegCure is its very intuitive and easy to use user interface. For example, if you want to scan your PC, simply launch the program, click the scan button and RegCure will automatically scan your the Registry and report all the errors it finds. To fix the errors, you simply click on the fix errors button and all the errors are fixed.

Of course, you can even schedule and automate the whole process so that you don't even need to click a button. RegCure is very reliable, I've been using it for years without any problem. I was very cautious the first time I used it, I backed up the entire Registry before I ran RegCure. By the way, RegCure comes with a very neat function to help you do registry backup in a flash.

Because of its reliability, now I don't even bother to backup the registry before I do the scanning. I just schedule the program to auto run every two weeks. If you schedule and run RegCure periodically, your computer will always be at an optimum performance. Guarantee! And you will never have to experience those annoying occurrences such as computer freezing, system crashes, slow performance, hardware malfunctions and other obscure Windows errors.

Here are some major RegCure's BENEFITS I have personally enjoyed over the year:

* It fixes all my registry probems and optimizes it automatically.
* It increases my PC performance.
* It helps to remove any annoying or dangerous Adware or Spyware.
* It gives me the peace of mind.
* It gives me less stress (no Windows freezes or obscure error messages).
* It actually saves me some money in the long run (no need to pay a PC expert to fix simple things for you).

Another thing I like about RegCure is that it's a super fast program. Unlike some of the registry programs I used before that work very slowly, RegCure is not only reliable but it's also a sprint runner and it turns your PC into a speed daemon.

As mentioned, RegCure also has an automatic backup feature. The backup and restore process is fast, reliable and easy to use. I have tested both the backup and restore process many many times, and it has never let me down. RegCure has a low price tag and it's definitely worth it considering the many great features and functions it has. You can even download its Scan program for FREE!

Adding Asset Value by Sound Property Management

Today's tough economic times requires owners of income producing real estate to focus on sound property management practices to ensure that their investment remains income producing. With the continuing tightening of business credit, to increasing costs of conducting business for the user of commercial real estate space, owners must insure that their investment is continuing to operate on a profitable basis month-to-month and returning the desired annual return for the owner.

It is critical that owners understand property management best practices to achieve financial and investment asset returns year after year. The best way to insure success is to implement a comprehensive property management program. Most owners hire experienced property management firms to manage all aspects of managing their assets if they do not have the experience nor the time and knowledge to do so. It is imperative to fully understand various legal, administrative, landlord-tenant relations/laws, building code and a host of other aspects of owning investment real estate for success, not to mention to keep the owner out of potential legal trouble.

Sprint Cs

This article is meant to provide a summary of some of the most important elements of a comprehensive property management program that not only provides benefits for ownership, but also benefits users (tenants) as well. The following represents some key elements of such a program:

1. Proper tenant screening: credit checks, review of financial statements, review bank accounts (past 60-90 days), names of current and previous suppliers for reference checks, business plan (if start-up), existing client/customer base.

2. Understand tenant's business structure: sole proprietor, LLC, S-corp, C-corp.

3. Fit their space requirement and line of business to your property: understand how tenant's business (industry, hours of operation, etc.) fits with you property type and current tenant mix if not standard office property, retail, etc., will the tenant request/require expansion space in the near future, for high profile tenants, what kind of tenant build-out will be required and cost.

4. Operating costs: what, if any, property operating costs can be passed through to tenants, energy efficiency/rebate programs from local utility companies, monitoring energy usage, property tax assessments, proper insurance.

5. Lease negotiations: an experienced management firm is invaluable here with the many issues and requirements that make-up a well drafted and comprehensive agreement.

6. Routine vs. emergency maintenance issues: preventative maintenance program, contractor relationships, in-house personnel.

7. Marketing/Leasing: market knowledge, broker, user contacts, advertising/promotion programs.

8. Tenant retention: existing tenant/property management reporting system, lease renewal program, property enhancement program.

9. Landlord-tenant requirements: compliance with federal, state and local laws.

10. Fire/life safety and building codes: compliance with national, state and local laws and ordinances.

The foregoing represents some important considerations for managing any investment property. A properly implemented and maintained property management program is a critical component for ownership success for any type of investment real estate. Especially in these tough economic times, it is smart to full appreciate how a professionally managed property can add value to your investment as well as add value to you tenants and will go along way toward tenant retention, which under any circumstance will result in profitable real estate returns.

The KRZR does not provide a big improvement over the RAZR applications, so you may want to wait for the KRZR 2.0 if you don't need the slimmest cell phone on the market. Some user complaints about this particular Sprint cellular phone are that the user interface is outdated and you cannot use mp3s as ringtones.

Individual Cell Phone Plans

There are many cell phone plans offered by cellular operators in America like AT&T, Sprint PCS, Verizon Wireless, Cingular Wireless, T-Mobile, and so on. To choose or not to choose an individual cell phone plan is totally dependent on the needs of an individual.

The first thing to look for in an individual cell phone plan is to know exactly what you are looking for regarding your personal usage. Is it to mainly receive calls or do you intend to make many calls? This will determine whether you should go in for a pre-paid connection or for billing plans.

Sprint Cs

Pre-paid plans are best for those who mostly receive calls. If you intend to make a lot of calls, a pre-paid plan can end up being extremely expensive since call and SMS rates for pre-paid calls are higher than billing plans. However, billing has a disadvantage over pre-paid, as it involves a lot of charges and fees. One will also need to sign a contract for using the plan for a specified amount of time.

The other factor to be kept in mind while going in for an individual cell phone plan is the type of calls that are expected to be made with the cell phone. Will there be more local, national or international calls?

Then one needs to check out the type of phone one is getting. Do you want added features like a camera or MP3 player? Cellular companies bundle other promotional offers like a free cellular phone or phone with camera, etc. Often one can get free accessories for the phone like a car charger or a data cable to connect with a computer.

Every cellular phone company's plan includes price, promotional offers, and free minutes. Depending upon one's individual usage, one can find a number of cellular plans. However, individual cell phone plans are good for those who do not have a family. With family members, one can opt for a family wireless plan wherein the family members pay less for making calls.

Asafa Powell - The World's Greatest and Humblest Sprint Champion That Ever Lived

On June 14, 2005 Jamaican sprinter Asafa Powell sped away with the 100-meter world record at the Super Grand Prix in Athens, Greece, clocking in at a blistering 9.77 seconds - one-hundredth of a second off the previous 100-meter record set by Maurice Green.

Asafa officially is now the fastest man in the universe. How much does it take an ordinary man, who five years ago was practically a nobody, to accomplish this feat? It takes guts, determination, a strict training regimen, and the support of family and friends. Asafa also hasa pleasant "nice-guy" attitude - on the track and off - unlike many of today's cocky, head way up in the cloud sprinters. He also has a tremendous belief in himself - and an even greater belief in God.

Sprint Cs

Asafa's humble beginnings in the quiet, rural settlement of Linstead, St. Catherine, Jamaica, were a precursor to his amazing achievements on the track. Growing up, Asafa was the product of a strict upbringing and deeply cultured family values. His parents, the Reverends William and Cislyn Powell, didn't allow their children to go to dances and shows. It was discipline and closeness of family that helped shape Asafa and his five older brothers.

The Powells have seen their fair share of set backs and suffering.
Brother Michael was murdered in a cab in New York City. Another brother, Vaughn, collapsed and died on a football field in Georgia. Reverend Powell himself was shot in the jaw during a robbery attempt. But the family's close bond and devout belief in God have kept them going even in times of great adversity and sadness. While in high school, Asafa dreamed the great dream and wrote his goal in his yearbook: To break the world record.

Asafa attended university in capital Kingston, Jamaica - turning down offers from American universities. He lives and trains there, attending church every week, and staying in close contact with his parents. It's easy to assume that the fastest man in the world would rely on a wide variety of special supplements to stay energetic and train hard. Asafa had never taken any type of vitamin up to April of 2005. "Taking Nutrilite(TM) Double X(TM) was the only change I made to how I had been training. After I started taking it, I felt I had more energy to train harder and run faster."

He adds, "I am very careful about what I consume so I appreciate the balanced vitamin and mineral content plus the rich, plant-based concentrates in Double X."
He clocked 9.84 seconds in May 2005 at the Jamaica International Invitational, - at the time, the fastest time in the world that year. A month later, he delivered a similar performance in the Czech Republic, with a time of 9.85 seconds. Asafa broke the world record, running 100 meters in just 9.77 seconds - in the very stadium in Athens where he finished a disappointing fifth in the 2004 Olympics. His reaction to breaking the world record? The at ease, shy, deeply religious young man merely laughed and smiled - even during the few minutes it took for his world record time to be confirmed on the scoreboard.

"When I run, I don't think about my competition," says the world record holder.
"I just do what I have to do. Nutrilite doesn't consider the competition in what they do, they just focus on being the best in their field."

The name "Asafa" means "rising to the occasion" and I believe we will undoubtedly see the name Asafa Powell in the sports records for many years to come.
Asafa will only be 25 at the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008 - a relatively young athlete in the highly competitive world of track stars. Asafa's story is one of setting and achieving goals and should serve as an aspiring story to those inside and out the athletic circle.

Free Mobile Phone Ringtones

With the growth in the mobile industry, personalizing cell phones has become a common practice. But most of the users expect the services provided by the service provider to be free of cost. Free mobile ringtones is one such aspect of the telecom world that people expect to come for free. With the growth in the mobile sector and the types of high-end hands being easily available, users have been downloading or passing around ringtones.

Free mobile ringtones are available in the form of MIDI and MP3 formats and have a lot of possibilities. These ringtones can be anything at all - rock, rap, hip-hop, new wave, dance, television themes, Christian songs, or just about anything you can think of. Most of these ringtones are provided by the respective service providers, but many of them are also available on different sites on the Internet. Many times, the free ringtones are also used to promote products, brands, events and celebrities. Also with advent of the MP3 format for ringtones, almost all the ringtones you want can be converted into MP3 and their size can be reduced. Then with the various permutations and combinations of tones, the treasure trove is almost inexhaustible. Also with the ease of free mobile tones availability, they are more of a fashion statement for the users rather than a source of entertainment. These ringtones are available in both monophonic and polyphonic formats.

Sprint Cs

The easy availability of free ringtones also affects the sale of a particular brand or model of handset. The clarity of sound, volume, effects and the memory of your handset is important while you download ringtones. Hence, ringtones have become more popular than the phone itself. Hence, the free mobile ringtones have forced the manufacturers to improve the sound aspect of all the handsets if they want their model to do well in the market. This just shows how a freebee like a ringtone has gained such importance in the market today.

Cell Tower Lease FAQ's

Q: Who are the carriers who could likely present me with a cell tower lease to be negotiated at my property?

A: Generally the wireless carrier will not present you directly with a cell tower lease. One of their wireless site acquisition or real estate managers will usually contact you first to gauge your interest level. You want to make sure before entering into a cell tower lease agreement with any of the wireless carriers doing business (ATT, Sprint-Nextel, US Cellular, Metro PCS, ClearWire, Verizon Wireless, Alltel, T-Mobile) or sign a contract with any of the large tower development or rooftop management companies (AAT, Crown, American Tower, SBA) that conduct your due diligence, but don't wait too long.

Sprint Cs

Also if you're lucky enough to be contacted by any of these firms, make sure that your you or your lawyer don't negotiate yourselves out of a cell tower lease. Often times attorney's start marking up a lease agreement just to get billable hours. If carriers have to waste a lot of time going back and forth they will move onto another site that's willing to do business, and then you will wind up looking at the site instead of collecting rent from it.

Q: What should I look for in my cell phone tower lease?

A: A properly executed cell tower lease should protect your ground space rights, rooftop space rights and address subleasing / subletting issues that many cell site owners often time miss. It will also include tax language to protect you from assessments. Also, it is crucial to properly develop the site (height of tower and available ground space) to allow for expansion and collocation which will increase revenues on the cell tower. All cell tower lease exhibit drawings should be completed by a state licensed architectural engineering firm. I could write a list of a dozen things that seasoned real estate attorneys miss regularly on cell tower leases, but then where's the fun in that?

Q: I don't know anything about zoning or construction project management, should I even bother with getting a cellular site built on my building's rooftop?

A: The carriers will not select your site if it is not feasible for development from a number of aspects, mainly zoning, and land use perspective. Only enter into a cell tower lease that puts the burden and expense of obtaining permits and approvals on the carrier or tower company, not on you the Owner/Landlord.

Q: What if cell towers become obsolete? What happens then?

A: Carriers are heavily invested into the development of the wireless network. Over 70% of the U.S. population uses cell phones. So if you hear rumors about a balloon or blimp or satellite being used for cellular technology don't be fooled, cell towers are here to stay. We didn't stop using Sony Walkmans either, they just call them iPods now, but people will always want to have personal music players, and the same holds true for personal communication devices.

Q: How long will my cell tower lease be good for?

A: When you sign a cell tower lease the lease term will be initially for 5 years with two renewal terms in most cases, and an additional ten year term after that. Since no one has a 35-year cellular tower lease as of yet, we can't say how long they can be extended for, but assume that your cell site leases will be extended for as long as you own the site and people need to speak to each other on wireless devices.

Q: How much can you get for your cell tower lease?

A: Isn't this always the big question... And our answer is that it depends how badly they need your site and where you are located. The closer to the heart of a major metro area, the greater the demand for wireless coverage and capacity will be, and the more you can get. Rooftop sites vary from ground leases. For example in Columbus, Ohio you might get ,100 per month each for three carriers on your rooftop totaling ,300 per month. While if you had a cell tower on your property in the same city you might get ,200 for the first carrier who built the tower, and to additional carriers pay rent to the first carrier to co-locate on their pole, and then each pay you 0 for ground space rights, or a total of ,000 per month.

Q: Shouldn't My Attorney Be Able To Guide Us?

A: A cell tower lease is a very intricate and specialized contract that is weighted heavily in favor of the cellular carrier. But think about it, it needs to be. Getting a cell tower built on your property is like having Donald Trump saying, "I'd like to have a small portion of your ground space, and I'm going to build a structure on your property that costs hundreds of thousands of dollars at MY expense, and it can potentially bring you -2 Million in rental income over a 25-30 year period if we can develop it properly. But I'm only going to do this if the contract protects my investment. And if you don't like it, no hard feelings, the guy next door has 2,000 square feet of space and could use the retirement money."

Now nothing against Mr. Trump, because he is an icon of success, but if you were going to sign a deal with him would you use an average attorney or get a top-gun attorney? And that's where we run into a shortage of talent in the marketplace. Those who can afford it hire a specialized cell tower lease attorney, those who can't cross their fingers and hope that they are getting a good deal.

That's why cell tower development and leasing on your own is a challenge and why property owners who can find a partner to work with are well served in both the short and long term.

Q: How can I get a cell tower lease signed for a tower on my property or antennas placed on our roof?

A: Having an uncle working in the real estate department at one of the carriers is your best bet. If that's not an option, submitting your site to the carriers directly gives you roughly a 1 in 1,000 to 1 in 10,000 chance for site selection.

Here's our insider secret to getting a cellular carrier interested in your site, revealed for the first time anywhere. First, pray to the gods of Radio Frequency. Then print up a dozen or so 18 inch x 24 inch "bandit signs" on your property that say in bold letters "I Want a Cell Tower On My Property." Your neighbors will probably steal them, but keep them posted on your property in a visible area. If a site acquisition consultant happens to be driving that way, you should get a call.

Last Question... (Extra Credit)
Q: What's the difference in signing a cell tower lease at ,000 monthly with 2% yearly increases vs. the same monthly rental amount at 3% early increases over a 25-year cell tower leasing term?

A: The difference is 2,000 over 25 years. WOW!! Are you happy or are you kicking yourself?

Can You Use T Mobile With the Mini iPhone? I'll Tell You

The other day, I received an email from someone who said that she was interested in the "new pink mini iPhone clone" but she was a T Mobile customer and did not want to have to switch carriers. She wanted to know if she could stay with the same network should she decide to purchase this phone. First, I had to clarify that she was discussing CECT KA08 which is often dubbed the mini iPhone. She didn't know the name of the phone, but I determined what she meant. I'll tell you what I told her in the following article.

All GSM Sim Carriers (Including T Mobile) Will Work Fine With The Mini KA08: One very cool thing about these clones is that they don't require any long term commitment or contract. In today's economy, this can be very appealing. If you get tired of the phone or see a new model that you'd rather have, then you can simply just switch out your GSM sim cards. You don't have to wait for the contract to be up and you don't have to pay for features that you aren't using. In other words, there is no need to have the same bill each month. It can vary based on what services you buy for that month (if you are opting for pay as you go.)

Sprint Cs

With that said, this is limited to companies that go with GSM sim cards. So, CDMA carriers like virgin mobile, sprint, metro pcs, and verizon won't work with these phones. But if you're using a GSM carrier, this phone gives you a lot of options. It's tiny, yet powerful with dual sim slots, web browsing, shake and tilt, email, MMS, SMS, bluetooth, FM radio, camera and web cam, and MP3 / MP4.

A Monthly Plan, Prepaid, Or Pay As You Go With T Mobile And The Mini iPhone: As of this writing, you have a lot of options with T Mobile. Many people who are attracted to the mini iPhone clones really like the pre paid option. You really have two choices here. You can "pay by the day" or "pay as you go." If you go with the daily option, you pay per day (which you are only charged on the days you use the phone) and then 10 cents per minute. You can talk for free to other T Mobile customers from 7pm to 7am.

With the "pay as you go," you basically buy refill cards that contain minutes. When you use the phone, you're charged the minutes and must refill them when they run out or expire. There are several options for cards. Examples are 30 minutes for , for 130 minutes, for 500 minutes and 1000 minutes for 0. The 0 card lasts for an entire year. This puts your bill at less than per month if you don't use all of those minutes.

There is also a monthly "flex plan" with T Mobile which doesn't require a credit check, deposits, overages, or fees. And this plan is where "my faves" comes in. Basically you can chose any five numbers on any network to get unlimited calling to. You don't use your minutes for these five people. Plus you get unlimited nights and weekends. 300 additional minutes on this plan is per month and the prices go up from there. If you want to omit the "my faves" option, then the price goes down to .

As you can see, there are many options here. The person who sent the email may well have liked her current plan and would only need to switch out the sim card, but there are many other options available to her.

Secret to Great Sex for Men

It is no secret, like just about every other guy in the world, ever since I was old enough, sex has consumed my mind. At the time I wasn't old enough to understand the difference between good sex, OK sex, bad sex, Great Sex... Sex was sex. And then sex was primarily internet porn, which at the time wasn't nearly as developed as it is now. This was back in the dial up days, where I was "surfing the web" with either an AOL, Compuserve, or Prodigy free trial. I guess at that time, the modems weren't fast enough to even watch videos like you can today. A picture said a thousand words. The only videos were on tapes which some friend would have found in his parents secret hiding spot in the closet. VHS Tapes, not DVDs...

I guess at that time, I assumed all sex was Great porn star sex. With the size and stamina of the porn star guys, and that all girls would take it like porn star girls. After all, porn was basically my handbook, a guide that showed me up close and personal the birds and bees (an analogy I still don't get). Tips on how to give her great sex.

Sprint Cs

But that was then and this is now. I am no longer a virgin, and I do understand the difference between the varying levels of sex, from bad to GREAT!! And reality set in as far as my sexual performance compared to porn star sex. But in the beginning, even bad sex was sex, so it was great. How to give her great sex wasn't as important. I wasn't even that interested on tips for sex. Not until later did I really learn the difference, and now that I am older, actually care about having great romps in the sack as opposed to a mediocre sprint.

My goals have changed, and I realized how much better Great Sex is compared to bad sex, or even OK sex. And don't get me wrong, OK sex isn't bad, and probably has the highest frequency, but still, when the time is there and the kids (the forget me nots from a hopefully great spin through the sheets because to have kids for a 2 minute quickie is a shame) are away at grandmom's; that is the time for GREAT sex. A night out with wifey, a nice dinner, a couple drinks, a few games of pool, a little dancing, and cap it off with a there is nobody to wake up, I am going to make you scream for your life, position after position, I wish I had this on video moment of glory that if it were anything else you would tell the kids about when they got older.

Well, I also found out the hard way that that wasn't as easy as it sounds either. Even when the kids are away, and you can do what ever you want, it doesn't always work out as planned. You're tired from a long day at work, getting older your sex drive isn't as keen as it once was, and not having sex every day (sometimes multiple times a day) like in the honeymoon years your stamina may have waned a bit from what it once was.

I have been there, done that. But I have also stumbled upon one more secret women have been keeping from us; Male Kegel Exercises. Yes, men can do them too. Just like keeping your other muscles in shape, you can keep your sex muscles (PC muscles), in shape through kegel exercises. You can do them like how women do, by clenching the muscles in your Taint (it ain't your balls, it ain't your ass), holding and releasing. Or I have also found a set that lets you do kegels like a man should, with weights.

But whatever way you decide to do the exercises, take this secret and run with it. Do it for your pre-teen self who was "surfing the web" with dreams of great porn star sex. Do it for the pornstar handbook you used as your tip giving guide. Do it for yourself, here and now. You spend your life living your for your family, take this one and do it for you. And I am sure your wife will be more than happy to get her heart racing and her juices flowing. Because that another secret. Women love sex too, but not the 1 minute in and out preceding my nap sex. Great I'm gonna make you cum twice sex (but that's an article for another time). It's a win win situation. Enjoy!!

Broadband - Securing Your Wireless Broadband - Part 1

Broadband is now the most common type of internet in households. It's is now actually pretty hard to find somebody using a dial up modem for their connection. Most broadband providers also supply a wireless router either for free of for a very cheap price, and with most laptops having an integrated router inside them as standard, broadband just keeps getting easier and easier.

Wireless broadband sends signals from your router through your house and beyond. Most household routers have a dependency range of around 45 meters, so the signal can be easily picked up by surrounding households if it is not protected.

Sprint Cs

If somebody is able to access your broadband connection you risk several things. There is of course the risk that by connecting to the network they can access your files and place viruses on your PC and therefore damage your machine. This is a practice that is on the rise in the united kingdom, with many people getting a kick out of being able to crack peoples passwords just for fun.

However, they can also affect you negatively in less malicious, but still harmful ways.

For example, if somebody logs onto your network and begins to download a large video file, they will slow down your internet's speed and performance by a huge amount. The longer they can get away with this, the worse off you are. Many broadband companies have a "bandwidth" or "download limit", and if somebody else is using it up for their own means, you lose out entirely.

Apart from direct attacks on your machine, there is also the risk of them looking at your history and possibly getting hold of your passwords and usernames meaning they could access highly personal information. Never store your banking details, credit card numbers or contact information on your PC.

If they take part in illegal activity such as phishing schemes, downloading music and movies illegally, or worse dealing in highly illegal products such as drugs and pornography, using your internet is a perfect way for them to shift the blame, as all of the connections are under your name. It is also very hard to prove who has accessed your network if you are in a densely populated area.

So for these reasons it is really very important that you limit who can access your broadband. It is usually a simple process to protect yourself, and nowadays broadband providers often supply you with the correct tools and software.

Make sure you have a good look at what you have been supplied with and use it to the best benefit that you can.

Samsung R910 Metro PCS To Be Unveiled Soon

Since 1994, Metro PCS has quickly become a leading provider of communication services and innovative cellular phones, with over 8 million customers in the United States alone. Just recently, the company has been rumored that it is set to release another LTE capable handset, the Samsung R910 Metro PCS early this year. Also now known as the Indulge, this handset is expected to be designed for customers to enjoy LTE connectivity on the company's network that is already available in some places in the USA.

The company built the first operational LTE network in the U.S. and released the first LTE device last year to beat Verizon to the claim to be the first American carrier to offer LTE smartphone. The company is speculated to release another high-end LTE capable smatphone to take advantage of its LTE network services late February this year. Although pictures of the device already came out on the Internet, there has been no official announcement made on this matter for the time being.

Sprint Cs

The final list of specifications that this smartphone will offer remains to be a mystery. However, the industry analysts speculate that the Indulge will also have Android support and will offer features similar to that of the Galaxy S lineup. According to the sources behind the pictures that came out on the Internet a few days back, the smartphone will offer 5.0 megapixel camera, support microSD expansion, Hummingbird processor, Bluetooth 3.0, and, of course, WiFi capabilities.

According to some sources, the Indulge is the LTE capable variation of Sprint's Samsung Transform, which features Android 2.2, QWERTY keyboard, 1GHz processor, front facing camera, TouchWiz user interface, and Bluetooth with stereo audio support. The pictures of the Indulge that came out on the Internet a few days ago, however, showed no sign of QWERTY keyboard. Moreover, according to sources, the handset currently runs on Android 2.2 but analysts expect that it will be upgraded to Android 2.3

With regard to the price of the Indulge, it is expected to fall between 9.99- 0. The retail price is reportedly 0 contract-free. This, however, is only an estimate basing on the statements from Metro PCS executives who previously confirmed their intention to release a high-end Android phone early this year.

After the release of the Samsung R910 Metro PCS, production of Samsung R910 accessories is also expected to follow to enhance the performance and features of the device. The accessories to be produced for the device will, of course, include standard enhancements like headsets and headphones, USD cables, car kits, screen protectors, cases and Bluetooth device. External memory cards, which allow users to store more data into the device, are also among the accessories that are also expected to be patronized by the users to enhance the functionality of the Indulge. According to sources, the Indulge will offer support microSD expansion of up to 64GB to allow users to store more videos, music files as well as emails into the phone.

The Samsung R910 Metro PCS will be released about the same time Verizon is also expected to release its highly anticipated Thunderbolt 4G.

How to Get New Ringtones For Free

We have to say that the best, easiest, most hassle-free way of getting new ringtones is to buy them! But if you're really set on getting them for free, or if you have not got a great deal of money to spend so you need to get them for free, here are some ways to do that. We all got to have our ringtone!

Many websites will offer you a free ringtone just so that you will simply look at their site. Yes, really. All they are asking you to do is visit. You do not have to make a purchase, just go there and look at it. This might seem a bit crazy, but it does make sense to them. They get bigger viewing figures that way, so they get pushed up in the search engine rankings. So why not take advantage of that? These people actually want you to do so. Look around for sites like that. Most of them are very trustworthy companies or organizations, so you can use them with confidence.

Sprint Cs

There are quite a lot of dating websites that offer you free ringtones in return for signing up with them. Usually it is free to sign up for the dating forums as well. So not only do you get a free ringtone, you also get the chance to meet the girl or boy of your dreams at the same time. And all for free, it has definitely got to be worth a try, at least!

As always, when you visit a site you do not know, it is wise to be a little bit cautious at first. Make sure you check everything out before you commit yourself to anything. This is specially true if you are downloading anything from a site, even just a free ringtone. It is usually quite easy to see if a site is reputable or not, so that makes things easier.

Another way to get unlimited free ringtones is to purchase a software package that you can use to create your own ringtones. While it is true that you have to shell out for the cost of the software, you can make thousands of customized ringtones, so they work out virtually free. The software usually does not cost very much anyway.

NASCAR 2011: The Game - Review

The experience of a freshly baked steak and burning rubber can be nothing short of breathtaking. And all that can now be experienced from the comfort your own home with NASCAR 2011 the game. But is this Eutechnyx developed game worth playing?

Modes

Sprint Cs

The first thing players will notice is the menu. This is honestly one of the best menus ever made. The garage in the background and track access cards while loading put me right into the NASCAR experience. An experience gained from many modes including career, quick race and online play. Now normally I'd say that career mode is where the mileage is at but this time I just can't.

Career mode let's you play as yourself or one of the 43 famous NASCAR sprint series drivers. As you race you gain experience, which can be put in new sponsorships or unlocks additional content, usually an invitational event or a color scheme. The sponsorship is a nice touch. After a couple of decent finishes you'll gain interest from famous sponsors. Put their logo on the car will unlock additional bonuses for predetermined criteria, like leading a race for 10 laps. And while the sponsorship is a great idea it only goes so far because career mode only supports one season, all hard earned respect goes lost after the 36st race, not great.

Racing

Luckily the cream of the crop is determined on track and in that respect NASCAR 2011 the game does very well. Racing with 43 other cars fighting for every inch of the racetrack is an experience unlike any.

During the race the game does a stellar job keeping you posted of the world around you. At the bottom of the screen the HUD gives a clear overview of the surrounding cars. And the tire and fuel indicators are essential for making it to the end of the race. Trust me I've had races where the tires would suddenly fall off a cliff, leading to the inevitable puncture.

This is both a good and a bad thing, because while it adds a nice strategic element to it, the execution lacks subtle cues. Tires tend to drop off quite harshly and any car damage is always brutal. I've experienced a race where the car would pull to the left leaving me counter steering through the entire thing - really exhausting!

Also tactical is the positioning of the front end. These cars drive quite heavily so the entry to a corner makes all the difference between ending in a giant swabble or reaching the finish line scot-free.

When you do make errors or decide go the long route, there's always the possibility to pit. In the pits a small screen pops up giving options for refueling, or changing tires. The only downside to this is that it yanks the player straight out of the immersion and switches to a fly cam until the car returns to the track.

The same can be said about cautions. These flags, which indicate a safety car situation, add a big lottery to any race. In the game they don't come out too often (luckily?) but they do get the job done, although it would've been nice to stay in-car throughout the whole thing.

Reasons they don't come out too often probably have something to do with the AI. They tend to drive very cleanly and don't get tangled in each other's tracks too often. When they approach an obstacle (probably you) they do a solid job in trying to avoid it, despite failing when in larger packs. Don't expect anything like the real thing though. The two-car bullet phenomenon, where one is the pusher, is definitely something you won't see in the game. The same can be said about strategic slipstreaming in packs or slingshots. But for the largest part the AI is satisfying.

Ultimately these elements do compliment the tactical sport that is NASCAR, and overall they've been implemented very nicely and do deliver close racing as is notorious for the sport, well done Eutechnyx!

Driving

So how do these cars drive? To find out I connected a G27 to the PS3 version of the game, and grinded my teeth in. To be honest I was a little anxious at first. Seeing a big oval banking coming up and knowing that the wheel is connected to 3500lbs of aluminum doesn't fair well with me. And after many laps of bravery and content, I can say that it definitely does what it says on the tin.

These V8 muscles are heavy and it feels that way. Changing direction is tough, punishing any rookie entry to the corner. Contrary to what you may think the smaller ovals are what really get to you.

Also important for any tight oval is skillful braking. The balance between high pedal pressure and soft is as big as light and day. Aggressive drivers will definitely find the car dancing under the pressure, leaving you pray to the upcoming attackers.

As I mentioned before damage adds to the excitement of racing. Any contact with the wall and you might find the car pulling to either side. Harder contact will hurt the transmission. The damage is both visually and mechanically pleasing, despite never willing to break the car completely. Even the hardest of impacts will not result in an automatic forfeit of the race, the only dent in the system.

To prevent damages you might want to tweak the car setup a little. Players can choose between a standard setup (auto tuned for the particular race) or become engineers themselves. Aspiring engineers can start out easy using a few sliders to change the downforce, tires and gearbox among other things. I think that most will really appreciate this simplified method of making setups. Go all out though and the game throws any possible tweak into the mix. I can't confirm this but I can imagine it being on par with real world NASCAR! And the best part is that all these efforts do pay off during the race, both in car-wear and stability.

I can't deny that I'm a fan of Eutechnyx when it comes to gameplay and again they don't disappoint. With every aids off it's maybe a bit shy of being a complete sim, but it's challenging and the setup work is perfect. Likewise easy mode does a great job in offering a pick up and play experience to anyone new to the sport.

Online

With the handling aced most will probably picture fantastic online battles, fighting till dusk and pushing the tires to their absolute limit, well don't. Online racing often falls short of the picture we have in our heads, because close racing can only be done with mutual respect. Unfortunately, and I can't blame the devs for this, the oval circuit lends itself perfectly for bump races and ghost riders. I can say that out of all the races I've been on, I finished not a single one with a feeling of satisfaction and content.

On the bright side I haven't experienced much failures in the online system myself, although I've heard complaints from other users. So when you do know a couple of fair buds that are up for a race, go for it! But for most racers, unfortunately, lack of skill/intention worldwide will mark this mode useless.

Presentation

NASCAR the game 2011 is out for the Wii (May 24th), PS3 and the xbox360. The last two versions are identical to each other and is the version that we used for this review.

The current gen is running on its final legs and it shows. The graphics while pushing 43 cars fall short of the best we've seen in the genre. The trackside objects look very flat and do a poor job in conveying the belief that you're part of a bigger world. On the flip side the cars look great and it can be really entertaining at times to read a cars backend infomercial.

Also surprisingly good are the pre-race shows. These include hawks flying into the air and fireworks as the cars pass the pit straight, things you'd expect in real NASCAR racing. But again unfortunately the in-car experience doesn't live up to the immersion.

This isn't particularly helped by the sound. No matter the view you're in the engine always sounds the same. It lacks a rough edge and is too clean overall. Less clean is the sound of the spotter. This director up in the sky helps the driver pick the best lines and keeps him up to date of the swabbles ahead. In the game however he feels the need to repeat, confuse and annoy, within spectacular short timeframes. He especially feels the need to repeat "all clear" when driving on an island for numerous laps. I do feel that further tweaking and a few extra lines would greatly help the spotter implementation.

Conclusions

NASCAR 2011 the game is the first of the series and is shows. On top of that the graphics suffer from having to run 43 cars at all times. Still the racing itself is great and does offer a lot of joy, even when you're not familiar with the sport. The proper implementation of damage, tire wear and fuel compliments this feature.

The biggest problem, in my eyes, is the fact that you may find it unrewarding to race. Online is a hit or miss and the career mode isn't up to speed just yet. And because of that your mileage may vary to the largest extend, making this title a recommend only to the biggest of NASCAR fans or the purest of racers.

Kindle Vs Nook Vs iPad

It is quite understandable if a lot of students wish to leave their books at home. Carrying them can be a burden, especially with the growth of information. With the invention of e-book readers, having books around has become easier for school children and even professionals. Three of the popular e-book readers of today are Kindle, Nook and iPad. All three are highly capable of e-book reading, but how do you know which one is best for you and your needs? Here is a brief comparison of the three:

The Kindle

Sprint Cs

A proud Amazon development, the Kindle is a popular pick among students because it is exclusively made for e-book reading. Over the years, Amazon has created newer versions to meet the changing needs of the consumers.

Pros: Kindle can download directly from Sprint's EV-DO service. You can download a lot of rich content, and the connection is free. As far as the memory is concerned, it could store about 3, 500 books and accept external 4G drives. The E-Ink Pearl screen is also very clear, giving you the look and virtual feel of a real book.

Cons: Kindle is quite monochromatic; it comes in black and white colors only. The screen is also very small, so those with visual problems might not find it very comfortable. You have to buy an extra lighting accessory if you want to read even in dark places. It is also very costly these days, reaching to almost 0.

The Nook

Barnes and Noble, a reputable publishing company, developed the Nook as their own version of reading e-books.

Pros: Unlike the Kindle, the Nook has a colored navigation system run by Android OS. For those who have a hard time navigating, they could also use the keypad provided. It is also the first e-book reader that offers the share-your-book option. Downloading could be done through wireless or through 3G connection.

Cons: The nook does not have a web browser, and the battery life is quite shorter than that of typical e-book readers.

The iPad

By far the most popular tablet PC ever created, Apple has revolutionized gadget portability and functionality by developing not just an e-book reader, but a personal computer as well.

Pros: Apple released the iPad with the convenience of web browsing, video streaming and e-book reading. It has a full color touch screen, where reading in the dark is not difficult. You can also download and purchase a lot of applications to maximize e-book reading.

Cons: The videos do not have flash, so you will basically have a hard time with them. It is also quite expensive.

If you want to do more with your e-book reader with a lot of money in your pocket, the iPad is the best choice that you can get. The few cons outweigh the pros, and you need not use a netbook because it also functions as a miniature PC.

The other e-book readers, Kindle and Nook, are not that bad. If you only want to read e-books and nothing else, purchasing a Kindle or a Nook is more advisable. If you still have a tight budget, go for the Nook as it is much affordable.

Always make sure that you read the terms and conditions carefully, so that you are not dragged to any kind of violation of the copyright laws for downloading the music for your iPod. So, be careful about the music and the source you are downloading from.
o Poor downloading speed - Some of the membership sites are there which are only concerned with making money and thus cannot provide good services to its customers. These sites are poorly maintained and hence there servers cannot stand with the growing traffic volumes resulting into low speed of downloading. o Poor after-sales services - Some of the sites are so badly run that they do not even bother about the quality after-sales services and customer support. So, make it sure to confirm all aspects of a membership site before subscribing to it.

Free Chinese Ringtones

The telecom revolution in China has brought in a lot of entertainment options for the young Chinese. Ringtones have become almost an identity factor for people, as opposed to simple phone customization. Ringtones vary from the latest western songs to traditional Chinese chants. With the language not being a barrier any more, ringtones are in great demand in China. Users can simply download your favorite tones or compose one for yourself. The most popular Chinese ringtones are made from the latest Chinese pop songs.

Prepaid Cell Phones in USA

Changes came in the plans of the then Federal Government in the year 2000, relating to the US cellular market. In September of the same year, the plan to auction spectrum used by the U.S. Department of Defense to the cellular operators, was postponed by three years. Before this, the FCC ruled that fixed wireless companies do not have to give up the allotted frequency spectrum in order to accommodate high-speed mobile services. In November same year, FCC reversed its ruling, stopping the limitations of the amount of frequency that operator can have.

To meet the competition brought into the cellular market, companies started to prepare to offer various contents in their respective services. Verizon Wireless offered services based on Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) and claimed that the users would be experiencing a considerable growth in speeds of 40kbits/second to 60kbit/second, on an average. Verizon is a joint venture between Verizon Communications and Vodafone Group Plc.

Sprint Cs

Cingular Wireless started a strategic plan to introduce General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) and Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution (EDGE) by the year 2004, where the GPRS will offer data speeds up-to 177kbits/second. At the initial stages the users were able to use 40Kbits/second. EDGE offered a greater speed of up-to 470 kbit/second, although the consumers could only have a speed of 100 kilobits/second on average. Cingular has been formed out of a joint venture between BellSouth Corp. and SBC Communications Inc. As per the Global mobile Suppliers Association (GSA), there were 139 commercial GSM/EDGE networks in 78 countries. This is out of a total of 192 EDGE deployments in 102 countries. As far as the country-wise break-up, there are 59 EDGE network in Europe, 45 in the Americas and Caribbean, 21 in Asia, and 14 in Africa and the Middle East.

AT&T Wireless would be deploying GPRS in 40% of its network in the year 2001. The company had planned to offer the service nationally by the end of 2002. AT&T would go on to deploy EDGE nationwide by the end of the year 2002, achieving this through software upgrades. The company would go on to start the implementation of Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) in the year 2003 and complete the deployment in the year 2004. At this time the company could only roll out the service in 80 percent of its markets.

More mobile operators in USA are as follows:

T-Mobile.

Sprint PCS.

Airadigm Communications.

Cellular One.

Cincinnati Bell.

Conestoga Wireless Company.

High Plains/Midwest LLC.

Iowa Wireless Services LP.

Message Express.

Panhandle Telecommunications System Inc.

PinPoint Wireless Inc.

Now let us, very briefly, understand the terminology used.

CDMA - Radio communication system involves two components, the frequency and the time. To put it simply, a certain generated code divides the entire frequency spectrum. These codes are generated to identify connections and therefore, the more connections are established, there are so many of these codes generated. Therefore, in effect, the individual code carries that part of the communication between the two, within whom the connection has been established. Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) technology does not assign specific frequency or its part to each user. Instead, the full spectrum of the frequency is allocated to the Individual conversations are encoded with a generated digital code for the connection established.

GPRS - General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) is a data service that service providers offer to users of Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM). GSM is a digital communication system used in cellular services and was first introduced in Finland in the year 1991 and by the end of 1997 GSM service became the accepted standard in over 100 countries around the world and is now the de facto standard in Europe and Asia. GPRS enables internet connectivity and supports wide range of enterprise and consumer applications. Having a similar speed to a dial-up modem, GPRS features the convenience of connectivity from anywhere through the prepaid cell phone that you have. It supports feature-rich data services such as colour Internet browsing, e-mail on the move, and powerful visual communications such as video streaming, multimedia messages and location-based services.

EDGE - Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution (EDGE) technology provides up-to three times the data rate compared to GPRS and is capable of handling three times more subscriber, adding extra capacity to voice communications. EDGE features advanced mobile services, such as, downloading of video and music clips, full multimedia messaging, high-speed colour Internet access and e-mail on the move. Due to a very small incremental cost increase, practically all GSM operators are offering EDGE, in their new mid- to high-level GSM devices. With most of the operators, EDGE is a software upgrade.

WCDMA - Wide Band Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) is a spread-spectrum 3rd generation mobile air interface system which utilises CDMA, the general multiplexing access system. It increases data transmission rates in GSM systems and provides other simultaneous support for a wide range of services with different characteristics.

One of the content delivery pioneers, Mobileplay, offers it is free, advertising-supported service for wireless devices, including PDAs, smart-phones, BlackBerries and Java-enabled cell phones. GSM in North America operates on the primary mobile communication bands - 850 MHz and 1900 MHz. When the service started the operations were exclusively on 1900 MHz, with 850 MHz being added in 2001. In Canada, the primary operational frequency is 1900MHz, which is used in the urban areas, with 850MHz as a back-up. At the same time 850MHz is being used in the rural parts of the country. The regulatory requirement in the United States, determine which area can use which frequency.

Parts of South and Central America use the 1900 MHz and 850 MHZ frequencies. Both of the countries, Ecuador and Panama, use GSM-850 exclusively. Some countries in the Americas use 900MHz and 1800MHz. This mixture of frequency usages often requires you, as a traveler, to confirm if your mobile handset is compatible with the frequency operated in the country of your visit. This becomes more apparent if you are traveling abroad, where it is very unlikely that the GSM handset that you have, will work at all. Under the circumstances, you might need to rent the required specified mobile prepaid phone or buy a quad band prepaid cell phone, if you should be a frequent traveler or rent a phone which is compatible to where-ever you are going.

If you find that your phone is compatible with the frequency used in the country of your visit, you will need to get in touch with your service provider to get your phone into a 'Roaming' scheme, so that you may make calls. You may find that this scheme is quite expensive and you may think of opting to get pre-paid SIM cards for the specific country that you are visiting. You get a lot of cost saving benefits.
